Maharishi Sthapatya Veda* Design
Maharishi Sthapatya Veda design is a building technology that will transform the way people think and feel. It establishes homes and offices that by their mere design promote good health, clear thinking, happiness, harmony, and prosperity for the family or business.

Maharishi Sthapatya Veda architecture is the most ancient and complete system of building in accord with Natural Law. It is the knowledge that connects individual life with cosmic life, individual intelligence with cosmic intelligence. With Maharishi Sthapatya Veda architecture, the parts and the whole are placed in perfect alliance with each other. The individual becomes in tune with the universe.

For more detailed information on how the influence of the stars and planets, our cosmic counterparts, is reflected in Maharishi Sthapatya Veda design, see Housing in Harmony with Natural Law.Back to the top

Maharishi Sthapatya Veda architecture originated thousands of years ago in ancient Vedic civilization in India. It has been used in countries all around the world for centuries. However, this knowledge gradually became diluted and almost disappeared. It is now being restored to its full power and completeness by Maharishi.

Maharishi Mahesh Yogi who introduced the Transcendental Meditation® program to the world 50 years ago is now offering this complete knowledge of Natural Law for the design and construction of buildings. Every home and every office building should support the health and happiness of its occupants.

Builders and developers are invited to review the Global Reconstruction program and join in building Vastu homes and office buildings in every country around the world. Be part of this global program to provide the most healthy and fortune-creating buildings possible for the whole population.

The Three Main Principles of Maharishi Sthapatya Veda Architecture
The ancient science of Sthapatya Veda has the precise knowledge and time-tested formulas to determine the right direction, right placement of rooms and right proportion for any building.

Right Direction - the entrance to the building should face east because the energy from the sun is the greatest when rising. This brings the greatest benefits to the health and vitality of the occupants.

On its path from east to west, the sun generates different qualities of energy.

Right Placement – there is an ideal place for every activity in the house. The sun generates different qualities of energy as it moves from east to west in the sky. Therefore each room should be placed so that the activities in that room correspond to the different energies of the sun. Then Natural Law will support every aspect of daily activity.

Right Proportion – every room in the house or office should be properly proportioned according to its function to provide maximum support. Maharishi Sthapatya Veda design takes advantage of the Cosmic proportions with reference to the individual proportions of the human physiology to bring balance to the occupants.

For more detailed information on the three main principles of Maharishi Sthapatya Veda architecture, see Housing in Harmony with Natural Law.

Key Elements
Maharishi Sthapatya Veda architecture involves a number of other key elements in the design of a building or a community.

Brahmasthan from Calgary Alberta MSV House. Copyright John Gaucher. The brahmasthan (see picture at left) – a central garden square in a town, or a central court or atrium in a house – is the place where the totality of Natural Law nourishes and upholds the entire structure, connecting individual life with cosmic life, individual intelligence with cosmic intelligence.

A vastu fence around the exterior of the building allows entrance to the building only from the most auspicious direction. A kalash is a special Maharishi Sthapatya Veda roof ornament that connects heaven and earth. A plinth is a raised foundation between grade level of the building and the first floor with specified proportions and a decorative appearance.

In addition, Maharishi Sthapatya Veda design recommends low-density housing, non-toxic building materials and furnishings, and ample herbal and floral gardens.

Considerations for Choosing Land
The land that the building is situated on should also provide maximum support from nature. These elements are some of the items that are considered when determining the auspicious nature of the property:

  • Slope of the land
  • Shape of the land
  • Unobstructed rising sun
  • Influence of the immediate environment
  • Location of bodies of water

Benefits of Maharishi Sthapatya Veda Design
Unless homes and working places are in harmony with the Natural Law, the life of the individual will always remain off balance. Lack of balance between the individual and the universe will always be the basic cause of ill health, problems, and misfortune.

"Today, people do not know that many misfortunes and even diseases arise from lack of proper orientation of the buildings they live and work in, and from fundamental violations of Natural Law inherent in their design, or Vastu.

"Maharishi Sthapatya Veda design brings complete knowledge of Natural Law, so that every building is in complete harmony with all the laws of nature and everyone enjoys perfect health, happiness, prosperity, and fulfillment."

— Dr. Eike Hartmann, Department Head of Maharishi Sthapatya Veda Architecture, Maharishi Vedic University, Vlodrop, Holland

People who live and work in buildings designed according to Maharishi Sthapatya Veda architecture find that they:

  • think more clearly and creatively
  • make better decisions
  • feel happier and healthier
  • feel more alert and refreshed throughout the day
  • enjoy more restful and refreshing sleep
  • enjoy more energy and less fatigue
  • experience less stress and greater peace of mind

According to the tradition of Maharishi Sthapatya Veda design, houses and offices not built in accord with Natural Law can create problems:

  • anxiety, depression
  • illness, chronic disease
  • blocks to creativity
  • bad luck, financial loss
  • obstacles to progress and success
  • disharmony in relationships, breakdown of family
  • anti-social behaviour and even criminal tendencies

The application of the principles of Maharishi Sthapatya Veda design will eradicate the basis of suffering caused by the violation of Natural Law, and will fulfill the purpose of architecture and city planning which is to provide happy, healthy homes for a problem-free life.

When a city or home is properly designed, it does not allow the entry of any negative influences from outside. This is known as the Maharishi Vastu Effect, which is based on the principle in physics that inner harmony can prevent outside disturbances from entering.

Everyone should live in a building or a city with an ideal Vastu.Back to the top
